" 2 Timothy 1:7"
How do we feel thankful in a restless world?
When examining thankfulness, it can have multiple meanings based on the context for which it used. But, I ask how does thankfulness aligns with God's word? As children, we are groomed to reply "thank you" when receiving a gift, given a compliment, or acknowledgment within a relationship. We also say thank you out of respect, as a way of expressing our gratitude. Some may even use the word to accept recognition, receive respect, or as a response to affection.
Yet, when we think of God's love for us, I ask you to pause and reflect at this moment, hour, or day and envizion the true reason you are thankful. As we examine God's words, it becomes a simple response. "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, his love endures forever." Chronicles 16:34.
First, in this restless world, we give thanks for because God is good as he has sheltered us from harm and danger. God has also provided for us, and all he has gives to us is Good.
Secondly, His love is consistent and endures forever. When we are at our lowest and find ourselves surrounded in darkness because of God's Love for us, that low does not consume us. He grants us the authority through his love to reclaim our life through his unconditional love.
So, to be thankful in a restless world, we are to "Live" intentionally by daily expressing gratitude while building a relationship with a Loving, Kind, Merciful, and ever-present God.
So my question to you is:
What are you thankful for on this Thankful Thursday?
